Strong AI
The strong AI hypothesis says that, in theory, a machine can develop human cognitive abilities, intelligence and (arguably) consciousness, and that therefore its ‘mind’ is in essence no different than a real human mind. Strong AI can perform a variety of functions, eventually teaching itself to solve for new problems.
Weak AI
Weak AI (also known as narrow AI) refers to the use of advanced algorithms to accomplish specific problem-solving or reasoning tasks that do not encompass the full range of human cognitive abilities. Weak AI does not achieve self-awareness or demonstrate a wide range of human cognitive abilities.
